An Indiana pastor has been taken into custody following a state and federal investigation.

Daniel Willis was arrested after investigators reported finding child sexual abuse material on seized electronic equipment.

The Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit led the case.

Terre Haute police provided assistance during the inquiry.

Homeland Security Investigations also assisted state authorities.

State police said the investigation officially began earlier this year.

The probe was launched after investigators received multiple tips.

Tips were submitted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

And another tip was submitted by an unnamed company.

Investigators later secured and executed search warrants.

Searches were conducted at Willis’ home.

Search warrants were also executed at his workplace, where he served as a senior pastor.

Authorities seized electronic and digital media devices during the searches.

Then forensic examiners analyzed the confiscated hardware.

Forensic examinations allegedly revealed files involving child sexual abuse.

Willis was formally charged with 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material involving children under 12.

All 10 charges filed against him are Level 4 felonies.

Willis also had past ties to local law enforcement.

He previously served as a volunteer chaplain for the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office.

Yet the sheriff said Willis was dismissed from serving in any capacity with the agency in 2018.

Officers arrested Willis without incident.

He was booked into the Vigo County Jail.

He is charged, not convicted.

The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
