“I DID NOT STRIKE MY CHILD”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY AN APEX MOTHER NEGLECTED HER 12-YEAR-OLD AS THE FATHER ALLEGEDLY INFLICTED SERIOUS BEATING INJURIES WITH A BELT… AND BOTH PARENTS ARE NOW FACING CHARGES IN COURT.

A 45-year-old mother in Apex has been arrested by authorities.
Deputies say she neglected her 12-year-old child during an abusive incident.
Amanda Bridges was taken into custody on Thursday.
She was charged in connection with injuries found on the child.
Deputies say those physical injuries were caused by the child’s father.
The father has been identified as 48-year-old Cleavon Bridges.
Cleavon was arrested on Wednesday.
According to arrest warrants, he allegedly struck the 12-year-old with a belt.
The strikes were hard enough to cause serious injuries to the child’s thigh and shin.

Cleavon was later released from custody after posting a $75,000 bond.
A judge ordered him to stay away from the family home.
The judge also ordered him to have no contact with his wife or children while the case is pending.
But Amanda is now facing her own criminal case.
Authorities accuse her of neglecting the child in a way that resulted in those injuries.
The father is accused of doing the hitting.
Yet the mother is accused of allowing the child to remain in the situation long enough to be seriously injured.
Amanda is being held on a $20,000 bond.
She has been ordered to have no contact with the child she is accused of failing to protect.
Both defendants are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 16.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
