Jamikal Duion Johnson, 28, is accused of beating and torturing his young son in Alabama.
According to court records, the alleged abuse took place in Montgomery in mid-July.
The young boy was later hospitalized while suffering from dehydration.
While treating the child for dehydration, medical staff discovered that the boy had sustained numerous physical injuries.
Medical personnel observed noticeable bruising to the child’s left eye.
They also documented distinct bruises across the boy’s torso.
And medical staff identified further bruising covering his legs and buttocks.

Medical staff determined that the extensive bruising came from physical abuse.
Police believe Johnson beat his young son with an unknown object.
A police investigation followed the medical findings.
On August 28, that investigation led law enforcement to arrest the 28-year-old father.
Johnson was formally charged with child abuse torture, according to Montgomery County District Court records.
He was subsequently released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
Yet the criminal case against Johnson remains pending.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
